EDINBURGH FRINGE

Hello, I'm Tristan and I am one of six Light UP students from the 13-19 group who is taking part in the play 'Chatroom'. We rehearse on a Monday evening at Abshot Community centre. The play 'Chatroom' is about six teenagers who talk on a Chatroom but they never meet - one character is suffering from depression and he wants to commit suicide. Throughout the play, he gets bullied by two other characters, who are encouraging him to take his life for their entertainment. Light UP wanted to put on this play to make people aware about online bullying.

On the 30th March, we permed this play at the Totton Festival Theater, this was an incredible experience for us all as it was our first time taking part in a competition. It was also our first time getting feedback after we performed by an adjudicator. We were all very thankful for this opportunity.

Light UP was then asked if we would perform 'Chatroom' at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August. We are all very excited and would love to take part in the Fringe Festival this year. This is an amazing opportunity for us and we can't wait. Lets Light UP the Fringe!

Fancy dress week!

We are holding a fundraiser/fancy dress week for all our Light UP students from 24th - 28th June.

We invite all our Light UP students to attend classes in fancy dress to help us raise money for a new printer! With a brand new printer, we will be able to provide scripts, top quality resources and much more for your classes.

We would love as many of you to join in with the fun and help support Light UP. Your teachers will also join in and will be dressing up too!

We look forward to seeing all your fabulous costumes! Check out HERE for more details!

From being in the office doing some admin tasks, to dressing up as a penguin. I have loved the past two weeks with Light UP, especially getting involved in the lessons and meeting the lovely Light UP students!
