Light UP Creativity: Egg Carton Flowers

Getting creative at home is a great way to keep yourself and your family entertained for hours. Creativity can also stimulate your mind, help you relax and ultimately - make you feel good.

Spring is in full bloom, but those beautiful tulips, daffodils and bluebells won't last forever. Fear not; with a couple of bits and bobs you can find at home, you can create your very own Egg Carton Flower which captures the colour and joy of the season! We also love crafts which encourage us to recycle things we would usually just dispose of.

You will need:

  • 1 Empty Egg Carton

  • 1 Paper Straw

  • 1 Pair of Scissors

  • Sellotape

  • PVA Glue

  • Brightly Coloured Acrylic Paints

  • Paint Palette

  • Paintbrushes

  • 1 Yellow Pom Pom

Got everything? Let's get started!

Start by carefully cutting out four containers out of the egg carton. Trim around the edges to create a rounder shape; these containers will be the flower petals.

Decant some acrylic paint onto your paint palette and start painting the cut-out egg carton. Feel free to use any colour combinations that make you happy!

To finish, use a small amount of PVA glue to fasten the pom pom to the centre of the egg carton and use some sellotape to attach the paper straw to the back of the egg carton (once the paint has dried!).

There you have it - a quick and easy craft that will brighten up your home in minutes! The perfect thing for Easter or Mother's Day.

We would love to see what you create, so please do share pictures of your origami on social media with us at #LightUPCreativity
