About Light UP
Light UP exists to provide value for money drama classes, and inventive performance opportunities to children aged 4-16 years old; through our three types of class; Light UP Class, Light UP Company and Light UP Advanced.
Our classes and teachers are welcoming and ready to support young people to shine both on the stage and off.
How we started
Light UP was started by Rosanna Sloan after she noticed the lack of affordable drama classes and training for children in and around Southampton, Hampshire, in November 2014. So Light UP began in Hamble.
Since then we have grown quickly and have the pleasure of working with over 300 young people each week, and even more through our parties and workshops. We run classes and workshops across Hampshire from Emsworth to Dibden Purlieu in Southampton, Fareham, Eastleigh, Gosport and more.
Our engaging and dynamic classes are open to 4-16 year olds, and are ideal for building young people's confidence, helping them to develop their creativity and communication skills, and to encourage them to have fun and make friends.
All our drama classes are taught by experienced workshop facilitators.
We can offer your child the chance to build their basic skills through class demonstrations and performances in our Light UP Classes; the opportunity to gain experience in performing in ambitious and engaging projects in our
Light UP is the education arm of theatre company Unexpected Places. Unexpected Places is a community-driven theatre company that creates performances in and from unexpected places.

My son absolutely loves being a part of this. His confidence has increased ten-fold, and I cannot stress how wonderful this experience is for him.
My son's class teacher talks about his imagination, and the passion that he has in his written work and how it has developed over the last year, which I believe is down to your support. I cannot recommend your group highly enough.
Fantastic group, lovely staff. My daughter can't wait to go each week. She does moan at me that she can only go once a week though!

My daughter was really confident, projected her voice and acted well in the school play. I thought I was being biased but quite a few people commented to me after how good she was.
The classes cater for all abilities - there's plenty of fun, which is enough for some children, but for others who want to develop there's opportunity, including structured exams. A great mix.The performances are really special and are something we'll all remember for many years.
My daughter’s confidence has grown so much since joining Light up. She looks forward to going every week and has made some great friends
