What incredible news! We are thrilled to hear we have received funding thanks to the government’s #CultureRecoveryFund so that we can continue to be here for you and #HereForCulture
Unexpected Places and Light UP are among more than 2,700 recipients to benefit from the latest round of awards from the Culture Recovery Fund, and we couldn't be more grateful, relieved and excited to begin to rebuild bigger and better than ever thanks to this opportunity.
So what does this mean for Unexpected Places and Light UP?
After facing a difficult year in surviving as an organisation, this funding, alongside the financial support we have received from the government, other funding bodies and the income from our online classes will mean we can fling our doors open, reestablish our youth theatre and outreach work, productions and events at UP Studios and more. We are so excited and ready to come back stronger than ever before, offer even more than before and support the creative education of our students and our community with even inventive, engaging projects.
We will be running outreach sessions in local schools, developing creative schemes of work to support arts education in infant, primary and secondary schools, restablishing our youth theatre, planning future performances and recruiting new team members to progress our charitable aims.
Why is #HereForCulture so important?
Culture creates jobs, supports livelihoods, and brings joy to everyone. The UK leads the world in the creative industries and we can all feel pride in that.
Now, in these challenging times, it’s our turn to show our support for culture. With an unprecedented investment through the Culture Recovery Fund, the government is #HereForCulture so it can weather the storm of coronavirus and come back stronger.
And we are #HereForCulture too.
#HereForCulture is a movement that unites the public, government and cultural organisations in support of our fantastic cinemas, theatres, music venues, museums, galleries and heritage.
