About The Event
Actor Duncan MacInnes will be leading an all day workshop for 10-18 year olds to learn about the differences in acting for theatre to acting for screen. A great opportunity for Light UP and non Light UP students to learn first hand about acting for film and TV in the half-term holiday. Light UP Director Rosie will be assisting on the day.
Using a range of commercial, television and film scripts, students will gain experience in scenes and camera set-ups. You will develop an understanding of the more technical aspects of shooting a scene, whilst maintaining a focus on acting. You will learn to develop a truthful, emotional connection that can be captured through the camera lens.
You will learn about castings and auditions for film, television and commercials and learn how to improve your technique.
You will prepare and work on monologues, duologues and scenes from a range of television and film genres, building confidence as a performer and in particular as a screen performer.
(Work will not take place in a television studio, but will be with the use of a handheld camera. You will be monitored and will receive immediate feedback on your achievements. You do not produce a showreel as part of this course.)
